The section between point D and E no longer "requires careful navigation". The local ramblers' group has done a superb job of clearing/signing the paths and laying cinders underfoot in some stretches making the going very easy and paths simple to follow.

Page 187. 250 metres after point C the route to the right is now though a wooden kissing gate (before reaching a lone gate which fails to span the whole width of the wider track).
The narrow bridge over the tramway has been repaired and is clear of overgrowth; the paths have been improved here for mountain bikes: there is no broken pipe to negotiate and no fly-tipping any more.
Page 188. The driveway with the white painted stones is opposite a white house on the left with its gable end facing the street.
Page 189. The Griffin Motel and its car park is now a housing development. Turn left after the house called The Griffin, opposite a layby. Follow the drive on the right side to reach the left corner boundary of the white-painted house then follow the boundary fence on your right alongside the property to reach a wooden kissing gate (Point K)
