Walk 20 – Cheese & Trees
7 December 2002
DISASTER ! I have been told that the proprietors of the Swan Inn have sold up and moved on, so no more cheese with your trees! The new owners probably do a cheese ploughmans, but it's not the same. The walk is still excellent though!

There are major changes to this walk, click below to download the latest version (taken from the Walk West e-book)

There are sporadic winter closures to the Wenchford car park to allow for removal of felled trees. If you cannot access the car park and the start of the walk, continue up the road a short distance to the Blackpool Bridge area (Point Q) where there is ample off-road parking. Start the walk from point Q.

Page 120 Point I. Over the years, the ‘narrow path going left’ has become the default path, so when you reach the broad clearing, take the path on the right, ignoring paths ahead and left, and follow it downhill to the road…
Page 121 3rd paragraph. The barrier before the disused railway has gone, but the path is easy to find, just go right where the track behind the properties bears left.
Page 122 between Points M & N. The stiles and fences on the right as you walk up the hill are no longer there.

It has been reported that the bridge immediately beyond point I has been closed as it's unsafe. This means an unpleasant walk along the roadside from the statiojn entrance to the point where you join the forest track beyond point I. Any information welcome. Glos. CC. informed. (I'm working on an alternative route.)
Page 108 paragraph two (Turn left and follow the track...): paths have become very indistinct.
Thanks to Kathy Strawbridge for the report
