Walk 8 – Ham & Stone

31 March 2002

The end of the first paragraph of the route description reads:

"Once through, the hedge is on your left for a few metres but you soon part company with it as your route lies straight ahead, crossing the centre of the field by way of an unploughed strip of land."

Too good to last, the landowner has sown oilseed rape across the path, obliterating it. The Council have been informed but no action is likely to be taken. Don't trespass around the field edge, blaze a path across the crops please.

4 November 2002

Path has now been ploughed up. Gloucestershire Council informed again; register your complaint also, at:
Public Rights of Way Dept.
Gloucestershire County Council
Shire Hall
Westgate Street

or email: prow@gloucestershire.gov.uk

3 May 2006

The landowner has sown oilseed rape over the cross-field path leading to the river every year since 2002. The Council have been informed every year, but no action has been taken. Don't trespass around the field edge, blaze a path across the crops please, and report the obstruction to Gloucestershire Council

25 June 2006

It has been reported that the path has again been heavily cropped. The walker has reported it to Gloucestershire Council

13 January 2009

Page 46, first paragraph. The first field after point A appears to have been ploughed. The path should be reinstated, please let me know if it hasn't. The boundary between the first and second fields has gone and the path should continue in the same direction to the gate in the furthest left corner.

19 October 2009

Page 46 line 1. The two stiles mentioned are no longer there, just a large 'gateway' but without a gate. There is, however, a footpath sign.

The first field after point A is now grass and, as previously reported, the boundary between the first and second fields has gone.

There is now no gate into what was the third field, just another gate-sized gap.

The notorious cross-field path leading down to the Little Avon River has at last been reinstated!

Thanks to Trevor Griffiths for the information
