Walk 28 – Bridgewater Bay
20 June 2010 (part of the WWA e-book revision)
The Natural England car park is a better starting point (ST275459). It’s about a mile further along the road on the left, in Steart. Start the walk from line 4, page 156.
Page 156, para 1: the stiles before and after the bird hides are now wooden gates.
Page 156 after point A: “Continue, passing farms on the right as far as a broad track on the left, which you take.” This track has an unmissable red ‘Caution Site Entrance’ sign next to it, and a rope across the track. About a third of the way along this track, there is a new looking fork left, which you ignore.
Between points A & B: There is now a metal gate to go through before climbing the dyke.
Before point B: “Continue to another gate, beyond which, a track descends and runs parallel with the dyke” This gate is now followed by another, only a few metres further on.
Page 156, last paragraph now reads: ‘Turn right down the field edge, then go a little to the left, aiming for a stone bridge then field gate on the far boundary.’
Page 158. After point D, the ‘old gate’ is now a new metal gate.
Page 158 para 2: The bridge has been replaced and the stile beyond has gone.
