Walk 29 – The Wessex Ridgeway
21 June 2010 (part of the WWA e-book revision)
Page160. Last line: ‘Beyond a rusting gate…’ – this is now a new metal gate
Page163 last para: The path along the dyke to the road after point F isn’t clear. There is a new-looking fence to the left which seems to be blocking off access to a clear footpath, so you may need to walk part of this stretch along the bottom of the ditch.
Page 164 para1: After point G all the stiles before point I have been replaced with metal gates. There are 6, not 8 as stated in the text.
Para 2. Between points I and J: ‘Continue, over a cross-track and eventually going through a gate, beyond which the path climbs more steeply for 200 yards…’ – the cross track is now bounded by a metal gate and wooden stile on each side. There is no longer a gate (or any other barrier to negotiate) before the steep climb.
Thanks to Matthew & Kate Cole for the information
