Welcome to Walk West's web site.

The primary purpose of this site is to allow those who have purchased the walking guides to check the status of the walks in their book. This means that no matter when the book was purchased, those who embark on one of the walks can do so confident that they will be able to follow their chosen route 'without let or hindrance' as the wording on the passports used to say!
Now that Walk West and Walk West Again are out of print, the cost of maintaining this web site (the hosting costs) will come from the sale of the three e-books. At the end of the Financial Year, all surplus profits will be donated to The Ramblers, whose members do stirling work keeping the footpaths open and walkable.
Please continue to send me any updates for the walks, and most importantly report any obstructions. There will soon be a link to a report form from this site.

History of the Books.

Walk West was first published in January 2000 with an updated version available from October 2000. The book was fully revised and reprinted again in the autumn of 2001, the winter of 2002/3, and February 2004. The imprint page will show you which version you have. It is now out of print, but has been updated and is available as an e-book, latest revision February 2012).

Walk West Again was first published in October 2003 and was fully revised and reprinted in December 2004. The imprint page will show you which version you have. It is now out of print, but a few remaining copies are available at Stanfords in Corn Street, Bristol (price £7.99) while stocks last. WWA has been updated and is available as an e-book, first published October 2011.

Walk West 3 was published as an e-book in 2006 and is regularly updated (last revision December 2011).

Public Rights of Way ought not to change, but temporary closures, waterlogged paths and inconsiderate landowners all add to the excitement of walking Britain's footpath network. The success of this site therefore depends on you, the walker. If you find a problem with one of the walks in either book please let us know, our email address is shown below. Also, we would welcome any comments or suggestions regarding the books.
